Autumn
Come through the window. See the light change. Hear the water moving. Stay for one small moment.
We begin with a moment
“Before autumn is seen, it is felt.”
A cool edge in the morning. A lower light at the window. One leaf turning gold while the world around it is still green.
Optional music beside the journey
Music can wait until Seasons in Song. Nothing plays automatically in this Companion.

A letter into autumn
It never arrives all at once.
Autumn gathers at the edges. A path softens beneath fallen leaves. Damp earth scents the air. Something rustles underfoot and, for a moment, the whole season feels close enough to touch.
A letter from Roz
Why Memories begins gently.
During a difficult time in my personal life, I lost my own connection with music and familiar words. I did not find my way back by trying harder. It began quietly—walking, watching the sea and sky, making with my hands and noticing colour.
As my mind became quieter, a melody would sometimes return. Then a word. Then a little more of myself.
That is why this Companion offers invitation without pressure. You may remember something, or simply notice what is here.
Memories in Colour & Song creates shared moments of presence, expression, and connection through colour and song.
Inside this issue
There are many ways into autumn.
Perhaps a photograph catches your eye, or a sound feels familiar. You can begin anywhere.
05More moments inside
A little colour. A little song. A moment that is yours.

We Begin With a Moment
The morning when the air changes.
There is a morning when the air touches the face a little differently—cooler, clearer, carrying the faint scent of wet leaves and earth.
The light sits lower at the window. A familiar path becomes copper beneath our feet. Somewhere, a coat waits by the door and a warm cup sends a ribbon of steam into the room.
Outside, branches move against a pearl-grey sky. Inside, the room grows warmer. For a moment, we can belong to both.
Autumn arrives quietly. It does not ask us to hurry.

First light
The day opens slowly, silver at the edges, gold at its heart.
Pause here
Notice where the light has landed.
Perhaps it rests on the curtain, travels across a hand, or catches the rim of a cup. Stay with it for one unhurried breath. Nothing needs to be named. Nothing more is required.
Through the Window
The air is waiting on the other side.
Water slips around the stones. Light trembles on the surface. Leaves gather at the edge, held for a breath before the current carries them on.
Come a little closer to the glass. Beyond it: cool air, damp earth and a breeze lifting one loose strand of hair.
The window is not the end of the view. It is where the invitation begins.

Looking out
The room stays warm. Beyond the glass, water threads between stone and fern, carrying small pieces of light.
The view changes
Come nearer to autumn.
Rain darkens the bark. One yellow leaf turns slowly as it falls, bright against the trees.
If it feels right, open the window a little. Stand at the door, or step outside with someone beside you. Feel where the air first touches—the face, the hands, the quiet space around you.
No distance is required. One breath of the season is enough.

Hear it
A rush, a trickle, a soft fall over stone—the water has many voices. It fills the quiet without breaking it, and carries the woodland gently into the room.
Original water recorded by Roz.

The threshold
The door opens. Cool air arrives. For one small moment, autumn is all around you.
Look up. Listen. Let the season meet you exactly where you are.

Colour Echoes
A colour may catch your eye.
Amber glows beside moss. Copper deepens into plum. A pale sky softens everything beneath it. You may notice one shade today—or simply enjoy them together.
If you feel like touching a colour, the woodland will answer.

Each colour holds a different feeling.

A woodland palette
The season carries more than one colour at a time—green remembering summer, copper warming the path, gold catching every breath of light.

Copper
A path warmed by every step that came before.
The colour of leaves underfoot, of late sun on stone, of warmth carried home.

Russet
Soft beneath the trees, bright against the rain—the woodland floor gathering every shade the branches have released.

Moss
A little green still holding on.
Quiet beneath root and stone, soft with rain, alive in the deepest shade.

Green & gold
The last brightness leans over moving water. For one moment, the stream carries the whole canopy with it.

Sky
As the leaves let go, the sky becomes larger.
Branches draw their dark lines across the light, and what seemed hidden is open again.

The Feeling of Autumn
A season held in colour, sound and the warmth we make around us.
Autumn can be bright as amber held to the light, or quiet as a grey sky resting on the hills.
It is the cool touch of a windowpane. The weight of a soft blanket across the knees.
Woodsmoke carried from somewhere unseen. The scent of rain on the path.
Leaves beneath a shoe. Water travelling over stone. A kettle beginning to sing softly.
Or a song returning unexpectedly, carrying a room, a face or a feeling with it.
A lamp begins to glow before evening has quite arrived.

Rain & warmth
Rain comes closer to the glass. The room draws gently around us, holding the warmth while the water darkens every colour outside.
Come as you are
However you arrive, you are welcome.
You may look for a while, listen with your eyes closed, hum, speak, move, make—or rest beside someone you trust while the season fills the room.
A moment can be a word, a colour, a smile, a movement or simply quiet company.
The moment is shared. The response is yours.

Seasons in Song
Let music live beside the season.
A melody can arrive softly—like light beneath a door—bringing company before it brings any words.
A familiar song can open a room without asking anyone to remember. It may bring a hum, a word, a smile, a gentle movement—or simply the feeling of not being alone.
Perhaps the melody belongs to a kitchen radio, a dance floor, a Sunday morning, a long car journey or someone whose voice once filled the room. It does not need to be explained.
The feeling can arrive before the memory.
Sometimes music is not a story we have to tell. It is a place we recognise: the first note opening a door, the rhythm carrying us, the final chord leaving its warmth behind.
Let the song come as gently as autumn light.

A song beside the view
Let the music meet the branches and the moving light. Listen. Sing. Move gently. Or simply be.

A doorway
Some paths ask only that we look through. The darkness frames the light, and the way beyond feels close enough to enter.
Small water
A silver thread finds its way through moss and leaf, slipping into shadow, catching the light, then travelling on. Press play and let its small, steady voice fill the pause.
Natural water sound only; there is no speech. The written description remains available if the film is not played.

A place beside the path
“I thought you might like to sit here.”
A seat, a path, a small late flower—and suddenly there is room for someone else inside the moment.

Look again
The next time you step outside, look for the piece of autumn that is waiting for you.
A change in the air. A colour on the path. A sound moving somewhere beyond the door.
